George’s brief appointment as Minister For Children was prematurely cut short following allegations of corruption in 1993. The case was settled out of court.
George’s first role was playing the Little Fat Reporter, age 3, in Treetops Nursery School’s ground-breaking production of Excuse Me, Are You Aliens?
Though the play has since been condemned for fatist character naming, George’s ambition remained undimmed. At age 5 his moving turn as The Baker’s Niece in The Mall School production of The Gingerbread Man was undermined by a harsh review (from his own mother) which stated ‘girls don’t stomp across the stage like that.’
Stinging from this criticism, George vowed to redouble his efforts, forging ahead in what would become a glittering career, beginning with the dual role as the Dummling & Golden Goose in the epic play of the same name, The essential role of the Traveller in the seminal production of The Nativity & culminating with a devastating rendition as Pontius Pilate in St George’s College’s production of Jesus Christ Super Star. The play caused some controversy when Pilate decided mid scene to extend Christ’s 39 lashes to ‘really teach him a lesson’.
Later further, less violent, things happened…
